Farewell to the Hill!

After two years, Songs from the Hill is closing its doors. It has been fantastic working with this group of students, they are a very talented bunch. We’re sorry that we will not be able to complete “Songs from the Hill, 2010″. If you are one of the lucky ones that have a copy of the 2009 album, hold on to it tightly! Thank you for all your support, we have had a wonderful time. For future “Songs from Afield” projects, watch this space.

Builders Arms, a broken ghetto blaster, and some soothing background music for your next ciggy break

I made a collage poster filled with stories for tomorrow’s gig, and the one next Thursday at Builders Arms. For those of you coming tomorrow, Oliver Clark and I might even sing you a little duet.

I also stitched a new ghetto blaster, but broke the link to the music player in the process of uploading it. So it looks really pretty, but it can’t play music, which shouldn’t harm its chances of being signed to a major label.

And last but not least, a present for all you smokers out there… LISTEN HERE

Craft Savvy Criminal on the loose; last spotted on iTunes

Craft Savvy Criminal is officially being launched in June/July. However, the online distributor has processed it far more quickly than expected, and it has already popped up on iTunes.

Like a pregnant teen, or an impatient child milling about the parcels under the tree weeks before Christmas, it left me feeling excited, apprehensive, and a little indecisive.

Would I accept the little unexpected surprise with open arms, tear open the parcel and defiantly revel in the notion that Christmas has come early? Would I wear baggy clothes for a while, lift the sticky tape and peek through the cracks, then seal it up again and then feign surprise on the big day (like Peggy off Madmen, or Sonia off East Enders), or, would I go through the rigmarole of removing it from iTunes, and try again when the time is right and everyone is feeling festive?

As it turns out, I’ll take a little from column A and a little from column B. Option C is out; this baby can’t be undone, and no present should go that long unwrapped.

If you want it from iTunes, go nuts. If you want to wait for the hard copy, hang in there. If you want to wait until someone else has a copy you can burn, or until you can illegally download it, then I can’t stop you, but I can call you names – like “Scrooge” or “Angelina Jolie”.

Polish President Lech Kaczynski has died in a plane crash, Danii Minogue has been having pregnancy cravings for Ferrero Rocher chocolates, and I have launched a website.

Kick your feet up and have a browse through the nooks and crannies that are waiting to be filled with comments from you, me, Viagra merchants, and some lady from Scandinavia who stumbled upon the site while looking for ways to knit booties for her incarcerated son.
